People keep talking about Jay Elect doing a collabo with all these commercial cats to get on which is what I think he definitely DOES NOT need to do and I hope he doesn't. Exhibit C is a classic bc HE is classic not bc someone else spit a hot verse on there. People act like he NEEDS Wayne or Puffy to legitimize his ability and music. He's always said that he reps everywhere (BIG shouts to Philly in Exhibit C) with New Orleans as his true home. He should stick with the mother of his child, Ms. Badu, and approach it from her cultural angle rather than trying to be "down" with all of this cats that can't touch him on a lyrical, conceptual or spiritual level. If anybody, he needs to be on a track with Andre 3000. A lot of NYC DJs were mad that Ex.C wasn't in the regular rotation in the city and eventually they got it on. Jay is a shining star that is undeniable to anyone with open ears and a relatively open mind.

I'm on this same kick too. I believe that if u aint willing to change something, then don't complain about it. The Conscious community says that they are tired of the rubbish on the radio and BET. If that's the case ,then cats like Jay E should have a crowd full of supporters in the front row. There are plenty of enlightened brothers and sistas out there that want to let go for a couple of hours, but when I went to the Dead Prez show it was full of non blacks. Street cats dig real talk. Street cats just dont get a chance to hear conscious music. They dig Mos. They dig K Rino. The people must demand what they want. The industry is going to go where the money is. Take it back to the street. Yeah he needs to collab with street dudes on some real talk vibes.

I've been thinking for a while now that Jay Elect needs to publicly identify himself with New Orleans in order to have commercial success. I think the perfect single for him would have a guest verse from Lil Wayne or Juvenile (in their MC mode not their flossing mode), over a Just Blaze beat, with Diddy on the hook. And I just remembered that I've heard Wayne say out his own mouth that he wants to work with Jay Electronica because he respects him as a hot artist from the hometown. the audio of Wayne in that interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvVPUu_80nY) would make the perfect interlude or intro before the Wayne featured single comes on.
